We’re Proud to Be a Green Travel Award-Winning Hotel

Eco-friendly hospitality, rooted in the heart of Beaufort.

At Inlet Inn, we believe being a good host also means being a good neighbor — to our guests, our town, and the environment we share. That’s why we’ve taken thoughtful steps to reduce our environmental impact while still offering the comfort, beauty, and Southern hospitality you’ve come to expect.

We actively seek sustainable alternatives to reduce our environmental impact and use eco-friendly products and energy-efficient lighting throughout the property.

Our Sustainable Practices

We’re proud to be a Green Travel Award-winning hotel, recognized for our commitment to environmentally responsible operations. Here are just a few ways we’re making your stay a little greener:

No more plastic toiletry bottles.

Each guest room features custom-produced, refillable glass bottles for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion — reducing more than 30,000 plastic bottles per year.

Guest bath products are locally made.

Beau Zone Bath and Body products in the Cobalt Blue bottles are all organic and handcrafted right here in Beaufort.

Eco-friendly in-room breakfast service

Our in-room breakfast service is delivered with no disposable trays, napkins or unnecessary packaging.

Water bottle station available.

We encourage our guests to reduce plastic, too, and check out the water bottle filling station we installed in the Ice Room. Inlet Inn aluminum Water bottles are sold in Gift Shop.

Support for clean travel.

We offer electric vehicle chargers onsite, including two Tesla-branded stations compatible with most EVs.

Every stay supports local conservation.

Through our Coins for Conservation program (more on that below), a small $4 fee* is automatically added to each reservation which goes to support Beaufort’s wildlife and coastal preservation effort. *Guests may opt out by contacting the Front Desk prior to check out.

Coins for Conservation

Coins for Conservation

Coins for Conservation (Saving Nature’s Treasures) was created and implemented by Inlet Inn owners, Barbara and Jay, as a way for businesses to give back to the natural environment that sustains our local economy. Designed with the environmentally savvy traveler in mind, the program forms fundraising partnerships between community businesses and trusted nonprofit eco-partners working to protect the pristine waters, estuaries, barrier islands, and wildlife along our North Carolina coast. It’s a local expression of what’s often called the “Blue Economy” — recognizing that our region’s prosperity is closely tied to the health of its natural surroundings.

Since it’s launch in 2022, over $42,662 has been raised by Inlet Inn Guest participation for a total of $75,000 with other local businesses. We add an automatic $4 fee to every room reservation, and guests may opt out when booking by phone or at the hotel. We’re proud to report a 97% guest participation rate — a testament to the shared values of our visitors and the Inlet Inn. All donations go directly to vetted local eco-partners, ensuring that every dollar contributes to preserving this place for generations to come.

100% of donations go to these organizations:

  • Atlantic Beach Sea Turtle Project – Supporting sea turtle conservation along our coast
  • Coastal Carolina Riverwatch – Protecting water quality in local rivers and estuaries
  • Friends of the Rachel Carson Reserve – Wildlife support and protection, including the wild horses and educating visitors to our unique barrier island ecosystems
  • NC Coastal Federation – Promoting clean water and healthy coastlines through hands-on restoration projects

Together, our guests help raise thousands of dollars each year to protect the very landscapes and wildlife that make Beaufort such a special place.
